I like the PLN's because they help me reflect on thing that are actually happening in the world today not just on book we are reading in class. The biggest challenge for me is to find something interesting to blog from the Google reader. I like them they help show what people believe in and it usually brings on a discussion. Reactions from the class really help so I can improve on what I did wrong and on anything they give me to try and make it better. My value of learning is to learn something new and hold onto it even if it isn't as important as learning math or learning languages something like a funny saying or a funny event that I learn something from. I would still do it once in a while if I wasn't getting a grade for it but if I had a lot of homework to do I would not do the blog or if I had a project I would not do the blog. Learning is very important to me because it will help to get a great job that pays well and not a job at McDonalds for the rest of my life.
To me PLN’s have helped me grow into my writing. I have never been a great writer. I still have to work hard, but because of the PLN’s I have had chances to practice my writing skills. The PLN’s have been challenging to me because they have forced me to think of better writing techniques. I do not care for writing very much, so I have been forced out of my box of not writing into a writing box. The presentations I had to do on Fridays also helped me. These presentations improved my public speaking, and I am not as nerves as I have been because of presenting my blogs to a classroom full of people. Speaking in front of the class also gave me a chance to voice my opinion. The reactions I received from the class have helped push me to better my writing. The categories help me when I am looking for something to write about. I know where to look for school articles, as well as, world articles, or things that interest me. This is a great organization tool. I have not missed a PLN, but I can only guess that someone would have missed a PLN because they forgot, or ran out of time to complete the assignment. The category that we are allowed to choose should come sooner, because it makes the blogging more interesting. My writing skills have become much better do to these blogs. I will hold myself accountable because I like good grades, and not doing my best doesn’t help my grade. Learning is important to me because a good education is what affects my future. If I slack off in my education now I will want to slack off in my job later on in life, because of the habits I would have developed during school. Learning is valuable, because not everyone has the opportunity to learn. The more I learn the smarter I become and I don’t want to be a dumb person because I didn’t want to learn. Knowledge is one of the best weapons a person can have. I can use knowledge to outsmart someone, as well as, use it to help me survive situations. Learning is something we will never stop doing, so why ignore it?
I would have to say I enjoy PLNs. It is fun to write about current events. You can entwine parts of your life in there or fascinating stories that you would like to show off or tell the class. It gives a chance for others to learn about you, for you to see what's happening at school and in the world, and it helps you improve your writing. After a tiring week of school, right before lunch, I really enjoy just sitting back relaxed, listening to my classmates present. Their topics are interesting and it is cool to learn about them and their past. I think we need to make them a little shorter, the presentations, but otherwise I think the PLNs setup and presentations were done well. I have acquired some skills from this activity. Now, whenever I read articles in the paper or online, I first diagnose the article and then try to connect me and my life to it, compare and just try to connect to the text. Doing that makes the text more than just words, it creates a portal where you can go in and remember things, and think of things and connect things. What is the value of learning? If no one ever learned there would never be any advancement or progression in this world. IN life, you learn from your mistakes. In sports, you learn from your opponent. In challenges and adversities, you learn from your experience and choices. You learn stuff every day. Personal Learning Network, emphasis on Personal. I mean grades are important, but everything you learn in school is to help you. When you graduate from college, and all your grades are permanent, then what do you do. That is the point when you see what have you taken out of school, learned from it, that you can apply to life and you personally. Learning stuff is important, remembering and applying what you learn is more important.
What do I like about PLNs? Well I find PLN’s very personal because in every PLN there is a piece of you in it. Weather it is your opinion or an event in your daily life. It helps classmates understand you better it also teaches you to express your self more openly then you would normally have. Also it improves your writing skills and helps you learn about events happening all over the world.
What are the challenges of PLNing for me? Though I do enjoy PLNing it’s sometimes its so hard for me to stop every thing I’m doing to sit down at my computer and type a good PLN, I know it’s not that hard but I have other things and homework to do and PLNs take up quite a bit of that time. So I usually have to plan stuff around it or designate days for me to do them, because I can’t just work on them little by little. When I do that I forget my point and how I was going to write it and have to start all over again. So yeah it’s really time consuming for me.
Have I gained any skills for Personal Learning Networks? I do believe I have gained some skills form PLNing, like when I’m arguing my beliefs with someone in my family it has taught me to gain strong facts and stances on that subject to back up my opinion, and try to change their view. These assignments help me develop a stronger sense of self and confidence in what I believe. I think even after we finish the PLNs that I’m going to continue strengthening my opinions by reading the newspapers, magazines, and continually talking to my parents about important facts and issues to me.
What is the value of learning? My value of learning is very high I take it very seriously and try to learn as much as I can, because learning means growth and growth means progress and progress is good in any society. Learning helps us from repeating our past, and helps us to pick ourselves up when we fall. Personal Learning Network help you gain these skills of learning and even if these are for a grade these skills are still important to learn for discover yourself and giving you confidence to do well in our world.
I like the PLNs. I like how you I express my feelings on current events in the world. Then other people can comment on mine and tell me how they feel about that event. One of the problems I do have with the PLNs is what to write about. When you are allowed to write on a specific category it’s had to find the right topic inside that category. So when others cannot find something good to write about they just don’t do it. I know I have thought about not doing one of my PLN assignments because I could not find something good to write about. That would be the only reason I don’t do then. The presentations on Fridays are cool. They are a good way to see how others in your class are thinking. You can see their ideas on events going on. The presentations are also nice because you get to work on your speaking skills. I hate speaking in front of crowds, so this helps me practice with a smaller group. I think it is nice to get the reaction of class mates. They can help with your presentations. Not only wile you are presenting them but also for next time. They can tell you what you need to improve on and what you should do different to make your presentation more interesting. You can also get feed back on your blogs and not just when you present but when others read your blogs. On my own I don’t read others blogs. But if we had to write more responses I would read more. Learning is important to me. It is what you will take away form school. After you are done with school you need to take what you have learned and apply it to the real world. But you have to remember you will always be learning new things. So if you slack off in school that will probably indicate you slacking in life. Do what you can now and your future life might not be so hard.
I like personal learning networks because it is easier and does not require any paper. My challenges are how to write fluently. I love doing the Friday presentations because it teahes me alot about the world and it gets us talking alot. We always have interesting dicussions on Friday. I get to hear all my other class mates'thoughts and beliefs. I reflect on other students' blogs but mostly the ones that draw me in by the title. I don't think much need to be chanded about the PLNs and I learned alot from the topics i blogged about. The value of learning is gaining our knowlege about the real world. It prepares us for business and life. Learning is extremely important to me but I still probably wouldn't think this is so valuable if it wern't for a grade.
I really like PLN’s because they help me become a better writer even though I didn’t like them at the beginning when we first started them. I didn’t like them at the beginning of school because I wasn’t a very good writer so I had difficulty expressing myself about articles I read, but now I love doing them because I know that when I start to write I become better. The PLN’s have challenged me in so many ways. For example when I find an article I really like its sometimes takes me a little bit longer to read and understand what the article is saying, so it takes me longer to relate to the text. When we present on Fridays I really like to listen to what everyone has to say about what they read, and I know that when its my turn to present what I read I have to believe that I can do this then I don’t get as scared that I might make a mistake. I know that by doing PLN’s I become a better writer and speaker. For example when I have a project that I have to present I don’t have to be so scared because I know that I have already spoke to everyone in a class so I’m not scared about that. If I knew about it and was good at writing, well better then I am now I would most likely do them, but it depends on what topic I read. Learning is very important to me because I enjoy discovering something new everyday, or learning something new everyday because it takes me a little longer to learn something then it does for anyone else.
I think PLNs are a way to express your thoughts and feelings towards a certain subject or event. I also like to read what other people have to say about certain articles. PLNs can be challenging sometimes because my mind just go totlly blank and I don't know what to write. Also, I think trying to get my point across in my own words but also so people can understand where I am coming from can be quite difficult; because I understand what im saying but my reader might not. The presentations help with public speaking. I personally get nervous shaky, and my face gets red but I know I will get better and more comfortable because we get so much practice. I like to know what people think about my writing and my views. It's nice to know some people's opinions in comparison to mine. I think we should write comments on eachothers blogs more often because we can practice backing up what we say and we can express ourselves more. I think our categories are very helpful because I have to read the news and that helps me beware of what's happening around the world or even in my community. I also think the education blog I have to right teaches me the different events of teaching and/or the dufferent things teachers think about and do. If I don't do a PLN it is probably because it totally spced my mind or I was to busy with other homework to do it. I think we should only do one blog a week instead of two. I think I learned to stand by what I think but also make sure I have valid information to back up my beliefs and thoughts. I will definately be able to express my opinions more freely to things and make my statements known. I will keep revising my writing and make sure I have strong back up information. I think learning is very valuable. It is the key to my success. Without learning I wouldn't be anything at all. Even if I didn';t go to school I would be learning. I always learn something new everyday. I am glad we do PLNs because I like to write my thoughts and opinions I would still do it even if we wouldn't get a grade for it. I think Mrs. Comp is doing more than just making us write blogs she is helping us for further years and making sure we have strong attributes when it comes to writing, expressing yourself, and bacing up your thoughts and beliefs. I know after doing this I will be 2 steps ahead of everyone next year.
For the most part I like PLN's because it's a way to practice, and get better at writing. I also like them because it's a way to tell people how you feel about certain things. The most challenging part of PLN's is the sentence requirement, because it's difficult to elaborate that long on one topic. I liked the class presentations also, they gave the class a way to connect a little bit more. Getting the classes reactions and having them comment on the blogs is valuable because they're opinions might be different, and give you another point of view. I would actually read other's blogs. Overall, the categories don't really help me much, but they do keep my blogs more organized. The only change I would make for next semester is to give us more options for what we're allowed to write about. I definitely think I have acquired skills for doing the reflections, for example my sentence fluency is slowly getting better. I'll be able to take away a better use of word choice, and punctuation from these. The more blogs you do and the more feedback we get let us know what we need to work on. I'm not really sure how I could hold myself more accountable for them, though. If I weren't receiving a grade, I would still think these reflections are valuable. Learning is very important to me, and I know that life is all about learning. I agree that knowledge is power, and I plan on taking every opportunity to take as much as possible out of these PLN's.
Personal Learning Networks. I believe that these are one of the most brilliant things in the world. I would say this because who really wants to set in a classroom and all we do is read books and do reports on them. I personal do not. I like these pln’s because I think it has improved my writing and it makes me to think deeper into things not just take them at face value. It makes me think in ways that I have not before. There are many challenges in doing personal learning networks. You have to look at different aspects of things, not able to take it for what it is, and have to see how it can apply to you in your every day life. I think that the presentations are very useful because it is easier than reading responses, and you actually can see there true emotions in the speech and there actions. I think that we should maybe respond to each other once a week or so that we can understand, what are classmates think on something but probably not more than that cause would be a little over whelming. I think that the categories are helpful but they could be narrowed down to who it is involving in the story if that is even possible to do. I have never not compelled a pln so I cannot respond to this but from my friend’s point of view I would say they just forget or they do not want to. No I believe that this semester went fine with these maybe just add in the response to others at least once a week or so. I think learning is very special to me. You cannot just grow up with naturally knowing everything. You have to learn and if you do not learn then how can you move on in life and succeed. You do not want to be stuck working in a fast food place for the rest of your life do you. That’s what I say to myself when I am doing homework and people say just don’t do it and I am like I have to man, I am not a very good test taker, and this is the only way I will get good grades. Yes, I would see just as valuable if it was not a grade but since it is I think that it makes me want to do it or the grade so that I can succeed in life. Learning is one of the most important things to me, with out learning where are you going to go in life.
PLNs were a little challenging sometimes because you asked to really reflect and really show our emotions and what we felt about that. That was hard because I dont really like sharing my emotions for the fear of being judged it was also hard because of sometimes it's hard to write your emotions on a piece of paper. But looking back now it was actually a really good thing. I loved that in plns I got to write what I felt, and not what I had to write to make me look like a good person. I've only presented once but that one time was okay. I got really nervous though and shaky. But it's helped me with speaking in front of people so i just pushed through it. I love getting comments on my blog! I read all of them and loved what people think about what I wrote or how i feel. Some of the comments I got sort of hurt my feelings and crushed my heart a little bit though. But yes i would defiantly say that getting the reactions of my fellow students on my writing is a big deal. Some of my subscriptions are helpful others are not. Some of them dont really have things that I can really reflect about. When I dont complete a pln it's just because i am too lazy to do it. There a lot of thought and they take a lot of time to do one im proud of, so sometimes I just dont do them because im too lazy. I suggest that we only do one a week so then we could put more thought and they could be better revised. I know I've always wanted to not have grades. It's like every students dream. No grades mean I don't have to do homework or come prepared to class. I mean why do homework if I'm not going to get a grade? Why sit around studying when I'm not going to get graded on my hard work and effort? Without grades there's really no incentive to learn. Grades are who we are; good grades put the nerd in nerd. I think that people get judged by there grades. If schools got rid of grades how would collages know that there excepting someone who is smart and will try to learn? But yeah learning is important to me. i dont want to be an idiot. i wan to get into intelligent conversations.
The PLN's are a great way for us to get our thoughts down. Before the PLN's I didn't look at the news because I never had to. But now that we do them in class helps me learn and expresses my thoughts. Some chanllenges are getting all the stuff you want us to have in our PLN's. Sometimes I forget to say why it matters, or link the article. But these are just little, fixable errors. I liked when we did the class presentations because I got to hear about what the other kids are interested in. We should be reflecting to each others blogs because it will help us learn and it makes the blogger feel good when he/she gets a comment. When I dont do a PLN it is because I forget. I know you think it is because i chose not to but it's not because of that. I think we could change how many we do next semester. I think we should just do one good/long PLN in a week. But it has to be good! I got better at writing and expressing myself. This helps because if you don't espress yourself in the world today you will never be heard. Yes, learning is important to me because I know I need it for the world. It probably makes me want to do it more when it is for a grade, but I think I would still do it even if it wasn't for a grade.
i like how the PLN are a great was for a reason to tell out beliefs. A challenge for me personally was always pin pointing that one topic that really grabbed me. I like them a lot, not only because it uses up out Friday, but because it in a way ( for lack of a better word) forces us to listen and respect one another's opinions. And no, it didn't really effect me in any way how my class mates responded, i don't know why but it did not matter. No, if we have categories, it defeats the purpose of us finding what is important to us. When I don't, just like I might be to late for this one, I just forget. I think the first semester went the way it was supposed to, wouldn't change a thing. I acquired a wider range of knowledge and understanding of the world around us, and that is priceless. If I wasn't receiving a grade I would not do it. Not because I don't care about learning I do care, but because I am a teenager and work is the last thing on my mind. so if I had the choice between work or fun, what do u think we would take. So its not I don't care, just given the choice I would take the fun way out. So grades are needed.
